I have been interested in and using Bach Flower Remedies for many years.
I found from personal experience that these drug free remedies helped with many painful situations and changes in my life. I attended an intense Seminar several years ago - 'The Work of Dr Edward Bach' which further opened my mind to the uses of these wonderful flower remedies. It isn't just humans who can benefit from their use, but animals and plants also, in fact, animals, plants and children usually respond far more quickly to the remedies.
Dr Edward Bach was a physician really quite ahead of his time (1886-1936). He discovered 38 remedies, each one being specifically for a certain mental or emotional problem.
Basically each remedy is made from extracting properties from natural plants in Spring Water which is preserved by using a small amount of pure alcohol. The famous Rescue Remedy is a good all round remedy to carry in your bag - ideal for any sudden shock or trauma. I give Rescue Remedy to my dogs prior to a visit to the vets to help calm them, and put a couple of drops in the water to water-in plants when I re-pot or move them. There are different remedies to use for general gardening to treat plants for growth, pests etc.
The remedies can also be used externally for burns, sprains, stings etc. Various remedies can be helpful with problem children i.e. Jealousy, shyness, attention seeking, daydreaming etc Sometimes we need to balance ourselves using up to seven different types of Flower Remedies - this mixture is placed in a bottle known as a 'Stock Bottle' - the 'patient' must take four drops of this mixture at frequent intervals (at least every couple of hours if the problem is severe.)
Dr Bach said "They cure, not by attacking the disease, but by flooding our bodies with the beautiful vibrations of our Higher Nature, in the presence of which, disease melts away as snow in the sunshine." Dr Bach's theory is "Treat the cause, not the effect.
